Bread Upma / Usli
Easy & tasty dish for breakfast or serve as an evening snack
Serves: 1
You will need
4 whole wheat / brown bread slices
1 tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon jeera ( cumin seeds )
1/2 teaspoon urad dal
1 green chilli, slit lengthwise
4 curry leaves
1 onion ( small in size ), finely sliced ( or 1 tablespoon )
1 carrot, finely grated
1/4 teaspoon salt ( or to taste )
1 tablespoon oil

Method
Cut bread slices into very small pieces.
In a wide pan / kadai, heat oil. Add mustard seeds. When they splutter, add cumin seeds, urad dal, green chilli and curry leaves. Saute for 2 - 3 minutes or until fragrant.
Add finely sliced onion and fry till golden color.
Add finely grated carrot and mix well. Cover with a lid and cook for 10 minutes on a low heat.
Add bread pieces and mix all the ingredients well. Adjust salt to taste.
Cover with a lid and cook for 6 - 8 minutes. Stir occasionally.
