Green peas Rotis


















Green peas  Rotis / Mutter Rotis - A delicious & nutritious rotis , made of green peas (fresh mutter), wholewheat  and spices. These  rotis are softer than normal chapatti !!

Makes: 8

Ingredients

Please use same measuring cup to measure wholewheat  and mutter.

For mutter (fresh green peas):

1 cup / 200 ml / 8 oz fresh mutter

½ teaspoon salt

½ cup / 100 ml / 4 oz water

In a pressure cooker, boil mutter with salt and water. Pressure cook on high heat for 3 quick whistles. Allow the cooker to cool naturally. Open cooker. Gently mash boiled  mutter along with cooked water (mutter stock). Now it's  paste like in consistency.

Other ingredients

1 cup / 200 ml / 8 oz wholewheat (atta)

½ teaspoon amchur powder (dried mango powder)

½ teaspoon salt

2 tablespoon finely chopped  onion

Method

For dough:

In a wide bowl, mix boiled and mashed  mutter,  wholewheat, amchur powder, salt and onion. Knead and make a soft chapatti dough. Sprinkle 1 – 2 tablespoon water if required to make a soft dough. Cover and keep aside for half an hour. Or store in a Tupperware container.

Divide the dough into  8 - 9 equal portions / balls.

Roll out into thin chapatis of 6 - inch diameter with the help of a dry flour.

Place a non - stick frying pan / griddle / tawa on heat. Place a roti on the frying pan / tawa and cook for few seconds until little bubbles appear. Turn over and cook for 1/2 minute or until brown specks appear. Cook each side for 1/2 minute and remove from tawa. Apply little oil / ghee on both sides of the  roti and stack them on top of each other. Serve with any gravy dishes or  green chutney or pickle.
