Fresh Mutton – 250g ( washed and cleaned )
Marination
Turmeric powder- 1/ 2 teaspoon
Salt – 1 teaspoon
Ginger – Garlic paste- 2 tablespoon
Red chilly powder- 2 teaspoon
Coriander powder – 2 tablespoon
Vinegar- 1 teaspoon
Marinate mutton pieces with above ingredients for half an hour and pressure cook for 20 minutes. You will get approximately one and a half cup gravy along with the cooked mutton pieces. You can use this gravy for curry and no need to add extra water.
For Curry
You will need
Cooking oil ( if you use coconut oil curry will be more tasty ) - 1 table spoon
Onion – 3 medium size, cut into thin slices
Fresh curry leaves – 2 springs ( dark green )
Green chilly – 2 cut lengthwise
Shallow fried coconut pieces ( thengakkoth )- 4 teaspoon ( coconut pieces cut into cubes and marinate with turmeric powder and salt for half an hour and shallow fry in a pan . Colour should be in golden brown )
Pepper powder – 1teaspoon
Muttom Masala- 1 teaspoon ( 5 cloves + 4 cardamom+2 inch pieces of cinnamon- make a powder of above ingredients
Salt – to taste
Method
In a pan, heat cooking oil. Fry sliced onions till golden colour . Add fresh curry leaves, green chillies and shallow fried coconut pieces. Saute it slowly for 5 -8 minutes. Add pressure cooked mutton with gravy , pepper powder, salt and mutton masala. Cook slowly for half an hour till the gravy thickens.. It goes well with Chapati, Kerala parotta and Appam. You can find out Appam.
Mutton curry looks so delicious. I can almost smell the aroma!!
