Mango Jam

Mango Jam

Basic recipe adapted from Vanitha magazine

Preparation time : 10 minutes

Cooking time: 50 minutes

Makes: 2 cups (Standard measuring cup of 150 ml water capacity)


1 kg well ripe mangoes (any good quality, medium size 4), chopped

1 cup water (200 ml)

1 ½ cup sugar (standard measuring cup of 200 ml / 8 oz)

Juice of 2 lemons (5 -6 teaspoons)


Heat a non stick pan on a medium heat. Add chopped mangoes and 1 cup water. Boil on a medium to low heat for 10 minutes.

Add sugar and juice of 2 lemons and stir continuously on a medium to low heat for 45 – 50 minutes until thickens / forms a soft ball / leaves from the sides of the pan.

Keep aside to cool for one hour and store in sterilized jars (also store in refrigerator).
