Idli Upma or Idli Uppumaav
Easy & tasty dish for breakfast or serve as an evening
snack, made of leftover idlis !!
Serves: 2 - 3
Ingredients
1 tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon jeera ( cumin seeds )
1/2 teaspoon urad dal
1 green chilli, slit lengthwise
6 curry leaves
1 onion ( small in size ), finely sliced
6 idlis
1/2 teaspoon salt ( or to taste )
Method
Break idlis into small pieces.
In a wide pan / kadai, heat oil. Add mustard seeds. When
they splutter, add cumin seeds, urad dal, green chilli and curry leaves. Saute
for 2 - 3 minutes or until fragrant.
Add finely sliced onion and fry till golden color.
Add broken idlis and mix all the ingredients well. Adjust
salt to taste.
Cover with a lid and cook on a low heat for 5 minutes.
Open the lid and stir continuously for 2 - 3 minutes until
idli pieces well mixed with all the ingredients. Serve hot with tea / coffee / or with fruit
juice/ Kerala mixture / Namkeen …
