Panakam
A tasty drink. Best for summer, made of melted and sieved jaggery, dried ginger powder, cardamom powder and lime juice.
Serves: 2 - 3
Ingredients
50 ml (3 tablespoons) thick melted and sieved jaggery
200 ml boiled and cooled water
Extra 200 ml boiled and cooled water
¼ level teaspoon dried ginger powder
¼ level teaspoon cardamom powder
2 pinches salt (or to taste)
1 teaspoon lemon juice
2 mint leaves for garnishing (optional)
Method
Dissolve melted and sieved jaggery in 1 cup (200 ml) water. Stir well and keep aside for half hour. Strain though a clean muslin cloth (now you may get 250 ml jaggery syrup).
Add extra 200 ml water, cardamom powder, dried ginger powder, salt to taste and lime juice. Stir well.
Pour into tall glasses and serve chilled (or normal temperature). Garnish with mint leaves (optional).
