Safety tips for your baby



1, Never leave her when she’s eating or drinking.

2, Keep small objects out of your baby’s reach.

3, Always put your baby to sleep on her back.

4, Maintain a moderate room temperature.

5, Do not fall asleep with your baby on a sofa or armchair , or leave her alone in an adult bed.

6, Use a light blanket, or a baby sleeping bag.

7, Make sure her car seat or bouncer is always placed on the floor, so she can’t topple off high surface. Make sure she’s strapped into her car seat or buggy so she can’t fall out.


8, Make sure heavy objects can’t be pulled over.

9, Move any furniture that your baby could climb on away from windows, so she can’t fall out.

10, Put stair gates on all staircases, at the top to bottom for extra security.

11, Don’t ever leave your baby alone in the bath - not even for a minute.

12, Don’t think that using a bath seat or support means you can leave your baby unattended.

13, Always check the water whether it is hot / cold when bathing a baby.

14, Do ignore the phone calls if it rings when bathing a baby , or take your baby with you to answer it.

15, Keep medicines away from your baby.

Baby's growth - Months 8, 9 , 10 , 11 and 12



Month 8

She begins to crawl rapidly and is brought up short only by solid objects.
She stands and leans against things.
She stands and puts one foot in front of the other.
She pushes away what she doesnt want.
She is very attached to parents , shows fear of strangers.
She shouts for attention.
She doesn’t like confinement and shows her resentment.
She can pick up objects.
She claps and waves hands.
She tastes everything – edible or not.


Month 9

She can stand holding onto objects.
She can turn around while crawling.
She can hide and find toys.
She will remember something which she saw the previous day.
She is able to follow simple instructions.
She chooses the toy she wants to play with.
She begins to evaluate people’s moods.
She performs for a delighted audience and is delighted by applause !!!.

Month 10

She can raise herself to standing position.
She walks holding on with both hands.
She sits down from standing position.
She imitates other’s action.
She picks up one word and repeats it constantly.
She can understand and obey some commands.
She opens drawers.
She enjoys playing in water.
She starts actively seeking approval from adults.
She shows signs of moods.
She fears strange places and the dark.
She sways in response to music.
She begins to learn to play hide and seek.



Month 11

She may lean over while standing.
She is able to stand on her toes.
She squats and stoops.
She enjoys simple games.
She shows guilt and responds to verbal chastisement.
She will turn pages of books , sometimes in a clump.
She is able to pick up minute objects.
She can lift lids from boxes.
She learns to connect words and meanings.
She speaks gibberish – interspersed with a few intelligible sounds.



Month 12

Now she can walk , stand and cruise.
She may climb out of her crib.
She attempts to climb up and down stairs.
She learns to play correctly with the blocks.
She prefers one hand over the other.
She resists napping , starts to throw tantrums.
She ‘’ mothers’’ her doll or teddy bear.
She can say a few words.
She identifies animals and books.

Baby's growth - Month 6 & 7



Month -6

1, This is creep – along - tummy month.
2, She may be able to sit for a little while without anyone holding her up.
3, She displays mood changes , protects loudly , laughs equally loudly.
4, She learns to compare two objects.
5, She acts shy when strangers try to make contact , but doesn’t cry.
6, She turns when she hears her name being called.
7, She can turn her head freely.
8, She starts to develop taste preferences.
9, She like to hold as many objects as she can.

Month – 7

1, She shows concentrated attention, is more interested in examining things.
2, She is able to say ‘ da , ma , du , do, pa ‘.
3, If you show her a picture of a baby , she seems to know what it is.
4, She begins to display the first signs of sense of humour.
5, She is able to balance her head well.
6, She crawls rather than creeps now.
7, She pushes herself up on hands and knees and rocks herself.
8, She uses her fingers to grasp objects.
9, She can hold two objects simultaneously.

Baby's growth - Month 4 & 5



Month -4

1, Now she is able to roll over from tummy to back and vice versa.
2, She will also start ‘’ swimming ‘’ in crib.
3, She can focus at different distance.
4, She is also becoming a social animal who laughs with delight and cries in anger.
5, She invents new sounds and tones, and seems delighted by them.

Month 5

1, Baby utters vowel sounds.
2, If you hold a mirror up to her , she can view herself in it.
3, She squeals , grunts, shouts.
4, She begins to resent strangers and cry in their presence.
5, She will try to move by rocking , rolling, twisting.
6, She aims well when reaching out to objects.
7, She can grasp objects , hold her bottle with one or both hands.

Baby's Growth - 2 nd and 3 rd Month



2 nd Month

1, Baby is more alert now.
2, Feeding and nap routine become established.
3, Coordination improves and , though neck muscles are still weak , she is able to lift her head for a few seconds.
4, She learns to quite herself by sucking her fists.
5, She can move her limbs in smooth , cylindrical movements.
6, Her cradle cap disappears.

3 rd Month

1, Now , baby may actually sleep through the night.
2, Her head is firm enough for her to hold it up without support.
3, She is fascinated by her extremities and tries constantly to get them into her mouth.
4, She begins to show signs of a memory and clearly awaits her feeds.
5, She can distinguish speech sounds from other sounds.
6, She can recognize family members and smiles a lot.
7, She gets on her stomach and leans on her elbows.
8, She can hold and involuntarily wave a toy.
9, Her facial expressions are clear.

Baby's growth - 1 Month



Your baby’s growth is indeed a miracle, a feat , a delightful track. Here’s a details of physical and emotional highlights , but remember that all children grow and mature at different paces , so don’t worry if your baby doesn’t exactly conform to this schedule.
Month- 1


1, In the first month , baby begins to respond to voices and movements.

2 , Her body movements become more coordinated – even if not quite like a ballerina’s.

3, Baby is also settling into a sleeping , crying , feeding pattern that will see her through the next few months.

4, Slowly , her vision is becoming fixed , through , at times , she will still squint.

5, Her neck reflexes becomes firmer. When put on her back , baby will turn her head to a proffered side.

6, She is slowly learning to tune in to some sounds and tune out most other ’ noises ‘.

7, By the end of the month , she is really smiling when the corners of her mouth turn up.

8, She stares for ages at an object , focusing , absorbing.

9, She responds well to all efforts at contact and loves to have people bend over her crib to coo and talk to her.

Bathing Baby - A step - by - step guide



1, Wash baby’s eyes with cotton wool and water. Wipe eyes from inside to outside- using fresh cotton wool for each eye.

2, Wash baby’s face with water, wiping it with cotton swap.

3, Make sure the water in the tub is nice and warm – not too hot. Wrap baby in a towel and hold him over the tub in a secure hold- with your hand at the nape of his neck, supporting his head.

4, Wash his scalp , with a small amount of shampoo. Rinse off thoroughly and pat baby’s hair dry.

5,Clean baby’s bottom with cotton wool and water.

6, Add a few drops of baby oil to the bath water. Soap baby and place him firmly in the water. Rinse him off , paying special attention to the folds of the skin.

7, Lift him out of the water , holding him securely. Pat him dry – again taking special care of the creases and folds.

8, Clean the cord area with antiseptic liquid on cotton bud.

9 , Shake out a little baby powder onto your hands – away from the baby. Smooth the powder onto baby- using your palms.

10, Brush baby’s hair.
