Pathrodo Upma / Upkari

Serves: 2


1 tablespoon oil

1 teaspoon mustard seeds

½ teaspoon jeera seeds (cumin seeds)

½ teaspoon urad dal

6 curry leaves

1 green chilli, slit lengthwise (if the pathrodo is not too spicy)

1 roll pathrodo, cut into small pieces

2 pinches salt (or to taste)

1 tablespoon grated coconut (optional)


Heat oil in s wide pan. Add mustard seeds. When they crackle, add jeera , urad dal, green chilli and curry leaves. Stir on a low heat until fragrant and crisp.

Add pathro pieces and adjust salt to taste if required. Cover with a tight lid and cook on a low heat for 8 – 10 minutes. Open the lid and stir well continuously for 2 minutes / until crisp. Sprinkle grated coconut (optional). Consume immediately as a snack.
