Make noodles according to the directions shown in the packet. Serve with fried egg. It's very delicious and yummy. You can add vegetables , cooked prawns and meat. Taste is totally different from Indian Maggi 2 minute noodles.

Onam Shopping Festival ( 2008 ) - Chennai

These days are great occasions for all Keralites world over – as their favourite Onam festival has arrived. Chennai is also celebrating Onam in its own ways.

There were two dedicated Onam special shopping festivals in Chennai. One was at Valluvarkottam for 3 days from 5th Sept to 7th. We visited the place. Apart from the traditional snacks and condiments, there were several food stalls selling traditional payasams ( Ada, parippu prathaman, pal-ada, pal-payasam), many shops were selling traditional fares like Appam – stew, Puttukadala, Kozhukkatta, ela-ada, kappa, Banana chips, chakka varuthathu ( jackfruit chips ), Biryani, Halwa, Kerala sarees, dry fruits etc. A notable feature this year was a multiplicity of stalls selling real – estate, house-boat / home stay and insurance products reflecting the changing business environment in Kerala.

The second venue was at Kerala Samajam, Poonamallee high road, Chennai – ongoing – till 12th Sept which is in a much smaller scale than that at Valluvarkottam.
Palakkaran Family Restaurant served 3 types of of Payasam and Appam - stew. Enjoy these photos...

Onam is an exclusive local festival of state of Kerala. It marks the homecoming of mythological King Mahabali and is an annual harvest festival. It is a popular festival among the cultural repertoire of Malayalees, and falls in the Malayalam month of Chingam (August/September as per the Gregorian calendar), the first month of the Malayalam calendar, and lasts for ten days. Traditionally celebrated as a harvest festival, mythologically it is linked to Malayalee–Hindu folktales; but Onam is celebrated by people of all religions .
