Ghosale Humman ( Ridge Gourd Humman )

You will need
2 ridge gourd ( ghossale )
2 teaspoon cooking oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
3/4 teaspoon red chilli powder or 2 green chillies, slit lengthwise
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon salt ( or to taste )

Method
Wash, clean and remove the ridges from the ridge gourd ( ghosale ) and cut into 3 - 4 cm slices.
In a pan, heat oil. Add mustard seeds. When they begin to pop add thinly sliced ridge gourd, red chilli powder or slit green chillies, turmeric powder and salt to taste. Need not add extra water while cooking. The ridge gourd itself carries a lot of water and which is sufficient for cooking.
Cover with a lid and cook on a low heat for 15 - 18 minutes or till done.
Serve with rice, pejje, dali thoy and gashi.
