Tomato - Coconut Chutney
A tasty chutney goes well with Dosa, Idli, Neer dosa, Pongal ....
Serves: 2 - 3
You will need
1 tablespoon oil
3 shallots / sambar onion / small onions, chopped
1 tomato, chopped (pick well ripe)
3 dried red chillies or 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
75 g grated coconut
2 tablespoons water

Method
Heat oil in a pan. Add onions and fry till light golden color on a low to medium heat.
Add chopped tomato and stir well until the water dries up.
Add dried red chilli / red chilli powder and turmeric powder. Saute for 2 - 3 minutes until tomatoes well blended with spices. Add salt and mix well. Switch off the heat and cool for 10 minutes.
Transfer the tomato mixture into mixer bowl and add grated coconut. Sprinkle 2 tablespoon water and make a smooth paste. Serve with Dosa / Idli / Neer Dosa / Pongal ...

4 curry leaves
1 dried red chilli, broken
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds

Method
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds. When they crackle, add curry leaves and broken red chilli. Saute well until crisp. Pour the seasoning over tomato - coconut chutney.
