Besan Aur Pyaz Ki Subzi (Onion fry with Besan (gram flour / chone pitti)
A tasty side dish rotis and rice. A very quick preparation and also without coconut paste and extra masalas !!
You will need
1 tablespoon oil
2 onion (medium size), cut into thin slices and separate each layers
175 g (less than 1 cup) besan, sieve well
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
¾ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
2 tablespoons water
2 teaspoon chopped coriander leaves
In a wide pan, heat oil. Add sliced onions and fry on a medium to low heat until light golden color.
Pour besan evenly with one hand and simultaneously stir with a spatula with the other hand. Mixing of besan is very important while making this subzi. It should be mixed evenly - else it may form lumps .
Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt to taste. Mix all the ingredients well. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons water. Cover with a lid and cook on a low heat for 5 minutes until the besan well coated on onion slices and color changes / fragrant.
Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves and serve hot as a side dish with Rotis / Rice. The taste is just like ‘’ onion pakoda’’.
