Mushroom Sukke / Thoran
(A side dish with Rice)
Serves: 3
You will need
1 tablespoon oil
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon jeers (cumin seeds)
1 onion, finely chopped (optional)
1/4 teaspoon urad dal
200 g mushroom, cut into cubes
1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

For the coconut mixture:
3 tablespoon (45 g) grated coconut
1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper powder
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper powder
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
Mix all the ingredients well.
Method
Wash and clean mushrooms. Cut into cubes and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds. When they starts splutter, add jeera and urad dal.
Add finely chopped onions (optional) and fry till golden brown color.
Add mushroom pieces, salt to taste and coconut mixture. Mix all the ingredients well. Do not add water while cooking. Cover with a lid and cook on a low to medium heat for 10 minutes or until done / water dries up / reduction in quantity. Open the lid and stir well continuously for 5 minutes. Serve as a side dish with Rice.
