Tulsi ( Holy Basil ) Drink - A natural remedy for mild respiratory infection

Tulsi ( Holy Basil ) Drink - A natural remedy for mild respiratory infection

Tulsi ( Holy Basil) leaves are considered sacred in India. Many temples in Tamilnadu, especially Vishnu temples give Tulsi as “prasadam” and the devotees consume it. Probably our ancestors realized the medical benefits of Tulsi and included it as part of our diet .

I am writing this from our own experience.

Here is a natural remedy for upper respiratory tract infections like running nose, mild / dry cough/ excessive sneezing.

Boil a handful of Tulsi leaves in 3 cups of water. Allow it to simmer for a while , till the volume reduces to 2/3 ( ie the volume reduces to 2 cups).

This drink can be consumed warm or at room temperature( finish the drink the same day in 2 – 3 servings). You may also add a teaspoon of honey to this drink, which will further ease the infection.

We never had to depend on medicines, once we started drinking this. I would advise you to try this as well.
