Chicken Porridge

Chicken Porridge

A tasty & nutritious porridge for breakfast !!

Serves: 2 – 3


½ cup (100 g) basmati rice or silky raw rice

200 g boneless chicken pieces

12 cloves garlic, chopped

1 – inch piece ginger, finely chopped

1 onion, finely chopped

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon pepper powder

2 cups (400 ml) water (standard measuring cup of 200 ml / 8 oz capacity)


Wash chicken pieces and drain out water thoroughly.

Wash and clean rice. Soak in 1 cup water for 30 minutes. Drain out water.

Finally, add rice and other ingredients in a pressure cooker and pressure cook for 15 minutes or until done (reduce high heat to medium after 3 whistle and cook for 10 minutes. Allow the cooker to naturally).

Sprinkle extra salt and pepper if required when serving. Decorate with spring onion greens or chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot.

This is very comfortable dish to eat. I remember my mom cooking this kind of porridge for our breakfast. Yummy! =)
